The University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) provides resources to students with disabilities, as well as those with temporary injuries and conditions, that may require accommodations in order to have equal access and full participation in all of UMBC’s programs, services and activities. We are guided by principles of inclusion, equity, and universal design. All members of our diverse campus community are welcome.

**SDS BUSINESS CONTINUITY DURING FALL 2020/WINTER 2021 REMOTE OFFICE OPERATIONS**

 

Student Disability Services (SDS) staff remain committed to supporting the access needs of our students, faculty and staff during remote campus operations and hybrid course delivery.

All SDS staff are working remotely to ensure that disability support services and accommodations continue to be provided. Appointments with staff can be scheduled via Webex, Google Meets, or by phone since in-office meetings are currently restricted. Staff are answering email and voicemail messages Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The SDS front desk phone line is forwarded to staff remotely.

  • Please note in any messages left or emailed if your inquiry is “URGENT”. Specific subject headings are helpful such as using the words “intake, accommodation change, testing, note taking” etc…

       **SDS is not proctoring accommodated testing during Fall 2020 or Winter 2021**

  • SDS STUDENTS: During remote instruction, you will NOT be scheduling your tests in the Accommodate portal since SDS is not proctoring quizzes, tests, or exams during COVID-19 restrictions. Please note, you should still fill out your “Semester Request” for each semester enrolled in order to have your accommodation letters sent to your instructors. This will notify faculty if you have testing accommodations that need to be arranged.
  • FACULTY: Please review our SDS recommended guidelines for providing accommodations during remote instruction (found under the SDS Resources menu “Info for Faculty” page & also emailed to all PeopleSoft-listed instructors).

APPOINTMENTS REQUESTS & INTAKES:

  • To request disability support and register with SDS, STEP 1 is to schedule an initial intake appointment ONLINE through our Accommodate student portal. Use your myUMBC log-in for access.
  • The 飞机加速器破解 menu tab on the SDS website provides registration information, discusses the disability documentation needed to implement accommodations, and has Accommodate instructions.
  • Accommodation questions for already registered SDS students can be answered by contacting a staff member directly through email, by contacting the SDS 小飞机加速器叫什么 or office phone line at (410) 455-2459, or through making an appointment in the online Accommodate portal.
  • All meetings will be offered virtually using WebEx, Google Meets, or by phone at this time. There are currently no in-person meetings (or testing appointments) due to the campus access restrictions related to COVID-19.
  • If you are seeking accommodations for your initial UMBC placement test, please request and register for services using the SDS Accommodate portal. All efforts will be made to expedite these requests, although advance notice is required in order to arrange accommodations with SDS and the Academic Success Center who administers placement tests.
